“Just look at that young man in that cowboy hat,” she whispered to her husband, “He should remove that when he’s in church.”
“Times change; traditions slip away; younger generations don’t seem to care,” her husband replied indifferently.
Then, suddenly he objected, “Hey, you’re wearing a hat; how come it’s okay that women can wear fancy hats during service, but men are expected to remove their headgear?”
“The Bible says a woman’s hair is her crowning glory,” the wife said; it’s in one of Paul’s letters to the Corinthians somewhere.
“I still don’t understand why I can’t wear my New York Mets cap?” the husband grumbled.
The woman shook her head in disbelief, “You don’t have to be a theologian to understand that one,” as she stood with her husband to sing the opening hymn. “God is clearly not a Mets fan.”
