It was exciting to take a helicopter ride over Alaskan glaciers; the view was stunning, and the sounds in the chopper were just like the sounds you hear in films and TV shows.
I couldn’t help but feel that the pilots for these tours had to ask themselves from time to time, “How many more of these are in me before something with me or my machine fails?”
They take tours up and over glaciers so often that the law of averages is against them each additional time they go up.
Still, that same rationale could be applied to private and commercial airplane flights, and, well, every time you go out on the road in your car or, as with me, my scooter.
My time came on September 25, 2024: my Vespa was totaled, and I now ride a bicycle when someone isn’t driving me around.
It’s a bitch to think this way; I guess that’s the only thing that doesn’t heal after the fractured ribs and a torn rotator cuff mend.
