Rattle & Grunt: A Six Sentence Story

The last appointment Richard had with his previous primary physician was to talk about the results of his bone scan, but when the doctor looked at Richard’s charts, he noticed he hadn’t had a physical in over a year the next thing Richard knew he was bent over the examination table receiving a prostate exam.

Richard was tempted to say, “I don’t think you’re gonna find any bones up there, Doc,” but kept quiet aside from a grunt.

The doctor worked so roughly that Richard thought he felt his balls rattle.

“I guess this will be the new normal now that I am in my 50s; I wonder what other indignities I am in store for,” Richard thought to himself.

During his first visit with his very young female doctor, he had difficulty paying attention to what she was saying because he dreaded the day when she snaps on the blue nitrile gloves and instructs him to pull his pants down and bend over.

Richard finally came to attention just in time to hear his new doctor say it was time for his first colonoscopy screening.

I think this is the first story about a prostate exam that I’ve read, but I don’t read much. Nice tale, by the way.

I am glad to hear that you survived the bone scan as well.

Doctor visits do seem to involve more the older we get.

Did you forget “turn your head and cough”?

While it’s not easy keeping on top of all those preventive screenings, it beats the daylights out of finding out too late.
