As of this post, I’m reading Meat: How the Next Agricultural Revolution Will Transform Humanity’s Favorite Food―and Our Future by Bruce Friedrich, and while the book has plenty of “we’re killing our planet” moments, it is, for the most part, a positive, forward-thinking book.

It has inspired me, like most works on the subject from Skinny Bastard (basically Skinny Bitch for men), the hopeful legislation The Green New Deal, and various essays on high blood pressure, E. coli, Salmonella, mercury poisoning, islands of plastic floating around our waterways, and the microplastics we ingest far more often than we might believe.
Since me and dieting have never gotten along, I have decided to take the baby-step approach: cut out meat.
And wouldn’t you know it, three days in and I have eaten a bacon breakfast sandwich, a spicy chicken sandwich from Popeye’s, and my wife’s cornbread with chili con (turkey) carne.
This is going to be a slog, but I’m hoping against my personal history of dieting that I cut out meat.
If I get clear that hurdle, then cut out all the shit I eat between the meals–especially after dinner.
