Climate change has affected a lot of parts of life. The one that is close to my heart is someone I worked with for many years who lives with his wife in a wooded area in Grass Valley, California. He was recently told their fire insurance shot up to a price they would not be able to pay more than a few years without dipping into the couple’s retirement.
The New York Times’ podcast The Daily recently covered this issue, but from how increasing fires, tornados, hurricanes, and floods are threatening the US home insurance system. Why the potential collapse of the home insurance industry would be huge is another industry that is feeling the effects of climate change.
